Charlie Jewell's
So why did they call the place Charlie Jewell's? Okay, that will be answered sometime soon, yes? My friends and I stopped by after the movies and were pleasantly surprised to be seated at a table right away on a Friday night. Our server, Chris...yumm yummmmmm... had incredible knowledge about the beer and outstanding food menu. My girlfriend and I have determined that this is our new girl's night out location...provided that Chris is there. Naturally, we would go there if Chris was there or not,...but we REALLY like Chris!!!!!!

What a SURPRISE!!! The menu is fabulous. How come we didn't know about it?
Charlie Jewell's is named after the proprietor's late father-in-law, whom he admired very much. When he and his son-in-law visited, Charlie would say, "Have a cold one, Mike". He was a very, very, nice man.
My friend asked me to join her for lunch at Charlie Jewell's today. First thing I wanted to know was WHO is this Charlie Jewell character? The question I have asked myself out loud everytime I drove by the place. I have been around Redlands for a REALLY long time and could not for the life of me figure out who this Charlie was so THANK you for explaining THAT. (if you didn't read the previous blog comment--Charlie was the owner's father-in-law.
I liked the bright and open ambience--reminded me of a great restaurant I like to go to in Santa Monica. The food was good. Service was good, but we were just about the only people in the place at high noon so it should have been good. The menu is extensive. Apparently there is a full menu for lunch and dinner and a late night menu for those who go out--obviously LATE. Great idea. The portions were perfect for splitting. The only thing I could determine about the emptiness of the place is that like me, people have no idea about the place.
There is an interesting private room available that intrigued my friend and I because we often like to get a group together to go out and we like when there is a special place just for us--we get kind of loud sometimes. We will definitely be back and reserve the room.
I never see anything advertised for this place. Do they have special drink nights? Music?
