Sushi in Redlands
I hear that Redlands has some outstanding sushi restaurants. One of my favorites in Niko Niko Sushi. I haven't had one thing that wasn't mouth watering, particularly if you get too much wasabi on your chopstick. I especially enjoy the unusual art they have displayed. I wonder if one of the staff members creates them? I guess I should ask one of these days. Sushi Kimo has been around a long time, but many people I talk to don't know about it. I hear they have one of the best sushi chefs in the region. My friend also told me they have a special chef's menu which consists of several courses. I'll have to give it a go one of these days. I always forget about Hello Sushi because it's tucked away behind Nick's Burgers. In fact, I can't comment because it has been over 8 years since I was there. Is it any good? I heard Super Sushi opened up in the States area off Alabama. Anyone been there? How about Mikan?

I have eaten sushi at Mikan several times. The sushi is very good and the presentation is beautiful.
You've got to to be kidding. Mikan is pricey. What's with the mashed potatoes with the afterthought of edamame (oh yes, this is supposed to be japanese?)
niko niko is almost fast food isn't it? Even w all the new places, the best sushi still is Kimo's -- he is the only place that has some of the more special cooked dishes (try chawan mushi or shitake mushrooms and asparagus) and very fresh fish -- toro, hamachi, live scallops, orange clam, etc.
I have had sushi all up and down the west coast, a couple spots in the east; Hawaii- I have a friend whose travelled extensively in the orient... we agree that Kimo's is amongst the best sushi we have ever had. His sushi is great.. but his appetizer's are better described at Pacific Fusion. Kimo is Japanese, obviously, but had some Classical French training in Japan before devoting himself to sushi in the States. Hence.. you have a wonderful mix of traditional Japanese, Traditional Sauces, and presentation the is out of this world. Kimo's dishes are straight art.. no doubt about it.
Ocean Blue is wonderful. We love the old rock music which is a nice change. The portions are huge and priced well. If you haven't tried it, TRY IT!
Get bent you Moron...
"Niko Sushi" is perhaps the worst example of Japanese food ever perpetrated in the Inland Empire followed closely by "Hello Sushi" -both of these places perpetrate pseudo-japanese fare with moderate Korean flair... the preparation is sloppy and the quality is very, very POOR... the food is most certainly NOT Japanese - you should stick to chicken fried steak & white country gravy rather than trying to weigh-in on "good" Japanese food ... Go to Japan... experience what Japanese food should taste like... then comment... Sushi Kimo is as close as you're going to get to fresh authentic Japanese food in the Inland Empire...

Matsushita...
I just discovered this blog! We've tried other sushi places in Redlands, but now go only to Sushi Kimo. He may be the only authentic Japanese trained sushi chef in the area and I'm pretty sure his is the only sushi restaurant that is Japanese owned. We go at least once a week. The fish is fresh and the presentation wonderful. Kimo is a treat in himself! This is why he has such a large cast of regulars, many of whom are Japanese.
